William Loranzy Thompson

May 29, 1924 — February 13, 2018

Mr. William “Bill” Loranzy Thompson, age 93 passed away at his home, Tuesday, February 13, 2018.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 pm Friday, February 16 at Wilkinson Funeral Home. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 2 pm at Carolina Memorial Park with Rev. Randy Wall officiating.

Bill was born May 29, 1924 in Stanly county, a son of the late Marshall Dwight Thompson and Mattie Little Thompson. He was also preceded in death by five siblings.

Bill was proud to be a WWII Army veteran, and he retired from Cannon Mills. He was also a faithful member of Ann Street United Methodist Church. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Survivors include his daughter, Kay Wilhelm and husband, Steve of Kannapolis; son, Jerry Thompson and wife, Darlene of Concord; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends.
