Mr. William “Bill” E. Powlas, age 87 of Concord, passed away Sunday, January 3, 2021 at Atrium Health Cabarrus.
A visitation will be held Thursday, January 7 at Friendship Southern Baptist Church from 11-12:45 pm. A funeral service will be held at 1 pm with Pastor Jesse Watkins and Dr. Joe Brown officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at West Concord Cemetery.
Bill was born May 13, 1933 in Rowan County, a son of the late Dewey E. and Nancy O’Neal Powles. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Lois Liner Powlas; sister, Sue Love and brothers, Elmer and June Powles.
Army Cpl. William Powlas served in the 25th Division, 14th Regiment of the Korean Conflict. He retired, having owned an auto salvage business. Bill had been an active member of Friendship Southern Baptist Church. He was recognized as top supporter for the Haiti Fresh Water Wells Mission.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Lori Allred and husband, Tadd of Concord; sons, Eric Powlas and wife, Joely, of Concord, and Mike Powlas and fiancé, Georgia Swenson of Wilmington; grandchildren, Jacob Allred, Olivia Schueneman and husband, Cody, Landon Powlas and fiancé, Brianna Cina; great-granddaughter, Lydia Rose Powlas; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
