Terry Black

A celebration of Terry's life will be held from 2:00PM until 4:00PM Saturday, May 13th at Troutman's Bar-B-Q, 362 Church St.N.. Please come join his family to remember his loves and his life.

W. Terry Black, age 80, of Concord, passed away on Friday, March 10, 2023 at Atrium Health after a brief illness.

Terry was born on August 26, 1942 to the late William Flowe Black and Vera Suther Black. He is also preceded in death by his sons, William Everett Black and Christopher Michael Black.

Surviving include his wife of 40 years, Pamela McKinney Black; daughter, Alexis Black Hooks of Concord NC; grandsons, Braxton Black of Mt. Pleasant NC and William and Matthew Black of Columbia, SC; brothers, Phil Black of Indian Trail, NC, and Dwight Black of Wilson, NC. Special thanks to Jason Harmon for his help to our family.

Terry proudly served with the Cabarrus County Sheriff's Department for 33 years during the administrations of 3 sheriffs. He excelled in crime scene photography as well as assisting in setting up Neighborhood Watch and women's self-defense programs. His proudest achievement came when he partnered with the late Judge Adam Grant in instituting the Meet the Courts Program which won a Points of Light Award from President George H.W. Bush.

In his spare time Terry enjoyed wedding photography, with one of his photographs featured on the cover of Carolina Bride.
