Mr. Warren W. Griffin, age 98 of Kannapolis passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, February 11, 2024 at Transitional Health Care.
A graveside service with military honors will be held on Thursday, February 15th at 1 pm at Carolina Memorial Park. Brother Tom Robinson will officiate. The family will speak to folks at the cemetery after the service.
Mr. Griffin was born January 16, 1926 in Union County and was a son of the late George W. Griffin and Belle Griffin. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Helms Griffin; children, Freda McCorkle and Mark Griffin, and several siblings.
Warren was one of the last great Army veterans, having served in WWII. After the military, he came back to NC where he worked for, and retired from Cannon Mills. Warren was strong in his faith and his walk with the Lord. He was a founding member of Mills Chapel Primitive Baptist Church. In previous years, he had a shop at his house where he would sharpen lawn mower and chain saw blades. It was also a gathering place for the men in the community to come and catch up on the latest news and happenings around town and share a few laughs. Warren lived a quiet, peaceful life, and he was willing to do anything for his fellow man. He will be dearly missed.
Surviving family members include his sister, Mercile Medlin of Marshville; son-in-law and caregiver, Mike McCorkle; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff at Transitional Health Care for their love and care given to Warren during his time there.
