Wanda James

Wanda Marie James, 65, of Kannapolis, passed away September 13, 2024 at Atrium Health Cabarrus.

A memorial service will be held at 5:00 pm on Wednesday, September 18,2024 in the chapel at Wilkinson Funeral Home officiated by Pastor Terry Cruse.

Wanda was born December 24, 1958 in Iredell County to the late Wheeler and Gladys James. She is also preceded in death by her son, Dustin Lynn Rayfield and nephew, Timothy James Brignac.

Wanda was a 1977 graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School. After high school, she was employed at Wiscassett Mills until its closing in 2001. She then began her 20 year career at A Better Choice Insurance where she loved her job and all her customers dearly.

One of her loves and best past times were at Concord and Metrolina Speedway where she was known as "Wicked Wanda". She loved the racin, the fussin, and the "ju-ju's". In her latter years, she enjoyed spending time with her fur babies; Max, Mayhem, and Chewy. Wanda lived her life to the fullest and loved deeply.

She is survived by her two sisters; Brenda Sherrill (Mark) of Concord and Donna James of Kannapolis. Her nieces; Blair Simpson (Jessie), Jessica Drye, Stefanie Broderick (Matt) and nephew, Jake Clark (Ali). Her many great-nieces and nephews; Aiden, Tori, Ethan, Bentley, Owen, Olivia, Ryan, Mason, and Korbin.

She will be dearly missed by all those who knew her.
