Mrs. Virginia Bean Propst, 92, of Concord, passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at PruittHealth-Town Center.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at Wilkinson Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Rev. Dr. Steve Ayers, with burial to follow at Forest Lawn West Cemetery in Charlotte. The family will receive friends from 10:30 am to 11:45 pm prior to the service.
Virginia was born on December 3, 1929 in Freeman, WV to the late Della Virginia Fowler Bean and Everett Nelson Bean. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Wesley Propst; daughter, Leslie Skinner; sister, Katherine Thomason; brothers, Everett and Tommy Bean.
Virginia was a longtime Physical Education Teacher at Berryhill and Devonshire Elementary Schools and coached High School. She received her Master’s in Physical Education from Montreat.
Virginia always cared about her family and made sure she was always there when they needed her. She loved to play tennis, sew, garden, explore and travel with her family. The special quilts that she made in her lifetime, for her family, will be enjoyed for many years to come. Virginia was also very passionate about her church and music.
She is survived by her daughters, Virginia “Gayle” Giliotti and husband, Roy of Bentonville, AR; Deborah Beatrice Williams and husband, James of Myrtle Beach, Robbie Kathryn Alden of Concord; Barbara Hawley and husband, Jay of Concord; brothers, James Bean, David Bean, Sammy Bean; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
