Thomas “Tom” Wylie Hogue, 73, of Concord, NC, passed away Monday, January 8, 2018 at Tucker Hospice House. His health had been declining, but death had been unexpected.
The funeral will be held 2 PM Saturday January 13, 2018 at Wilkinson Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Carolina Memorial Park. Pastor Randy Wall will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM prior to the service.
Born February 19, 1944 in Rowan County, he was the son of the late Joe Wylie Hogue and Edith Thompson Hogue. Educated in the Rowan County Schools, he also received an Associate’s Degree at Rowan Cabarrus Community College.
A devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather, he enjoyed spending time with his family. Tom also enjoyed spending summers at the beach with friends, fishing, and playing golf. In addition to being an avid golfer he liked playing cards with the guys at Green Oaks Golf Course, especially Hoppy. Otherwise you could find him in his recliner watching sports with family pet, “Zeus” by his side.
A Marine Veteran of the Vietnam War, Tom received a Purple Heart. Tom retired from Duke Energy and was a member of Ann Street UMC, and was actively involved with the men's group.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years Betsy Cline Hogue; daughter, Asha Hogue-Cook (Brian); sons, Chris Hogue (Trish), and Dwayne Hogue; grandchildren, Kristen Hogue, Jarrin Hogue and Seth Cook; sister, Martha Simerson of Salisbury.
The family would like to say thank you to everyone for their prayers, calls, visits, and the care given to Tom during his illness.
