The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Friday, September 22 at Wilkinson Funeral Home. A service to celebrate his life will be 12:00 pm Saturday, September 23 at Remedy Church, 701 Union Cemetery Road, Concord, NC 28027. Bishop Cody Killian will officiate. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery, 5340 Flowes Store Road, Concord, NC 28025.
Terry was born September 1, 1955 in Cabarrus County, a son of the late Howard S. and Eliza Mae Eury Medlin. Prior to his illness, Terry had been employed with American Greetings, Carillon Assisted Living, and numerous years at Cannon Mills.
His most enduring legacy was his role as a single father, who overcame overwhelming obstacles in raising his 2 children. He instilled the value of hard work and perseverance in facing the hardships of life.
He loved spending time at his condo in Myrtle Beach, but most importantly, the time he spent with each member of his family. He loved so deeply and enjoyed every moment that he could make memories. Terry was a fun person to be around and always managed to joke around and make people laugh, even when he wasn’t feeling his best. In his final days, his outgoing personality won over the nurses and they would come to see him even if they weren’t assigned to him during that visit. He was a shining light and the one who lifted the spirits of others around him. Terry enjoyed visiting pet shops and if it were up to him he would have bought one every time he went in. His life will leave a void, but the memories will live on forever in our hearts.
Those left to cherish his memory are his companion, Ray Webb of Gastonia; son, Nathan Medlin and wife, Michelle of Ladson, SC; daughter, Stephanie Lambert of Rock Hill, SC; grandchildren, Alex and Jonathan Lambert and Kailee, Colton, Kinsley and Wyatt Medlin; great-grandson, Atticus Lambert; siblings, Billy Howard Medlin and wife Mildred, Dixie Kay Garmon and husband Mickey, Janie McAnulty and husband Gene, Annie Lea McAnulty and husband Lewis, all of Concord; numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and friends.
