With heavy hearts, we announce the unexpected passing of Mr. Terry Steven Briggs on Friday, September 15, 2023, at Atrium Health-Cabarrus in Concord, surrounded by his loving family. Terry, aged 71, touched the lives of many with his warmth, talents, and joyful spirit.
Terry was born on December 26, 1951, in Albert Lea, MN, to the late Shirley Joyce Bronson Briggs and Wayne Leroy Briggs. His life was a testament to the values of hard work, family, and pursuing one's passions.
Professionally, Terry was a dedicated draftsman who spent many years at IBM, where he made a lasting mark by creating a specialized printer that became his claim to fame. His commitment to precision and innovation in his work was evident to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Outside of the office, Terry found immense joy in a variety of interests. He was an avid fisherman, finding solace and contentment on the water. He had a deep appreciation for sports, often watching games and matches with great enthusiasm. Yet, his true joy came from spending time with his beloved family, creating cherished memories that will be forever treasured.
Terry also had a passion for Nascar and could often be found following races, discussing drivers, and sharing in the excitement of the sport. Another of his hobbies was crafting virtual pinball games, showcasing his creativity and technical skills. Terry also had a passion for animals, he had 2 very special dogs and 5 cats, he said goodnight to each one individually every night.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Becky Ann Winslow Briggs, of Concord; daughter, Caitlin Amanda Briggs and fiancé Timothy Brent Kiker, of Concord; son, Christopher Alan Briggs and fiancée Sylvia Marie Yates, of Salisbury; brother, Michael Wayne Briggs and wife Kathleen Beth Briggs of Duluth, MN; grandchildren, Noah Alan Briggs and Hazel Noelle Briggs.
Terry's legacy will live on through the love and memories he leaves behind. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
As we grieve the loss of Terry Steven Briggs, let us also celebrate the rich and meaningful life he led. May his memory be a source of comfort and inspiration to us all.
A private memorial service will be held to honor Terry's life and the impact he had on those around him. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to a charity of your choice in Terry's memory.
