Mr. Strickland Charles “Strick” Dalton, age 67 passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 23, 2019.
A service to celebrate his life will be held Saturday, October 26 at 2 PM at Wilkinson Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. John Cashwell officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home until 6 PM.
Strick was born December 15, 1951 in Mecklenburg County, a son of the late Edward H. “Bud” Dalton and Betty Thompson Dalton. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Lana Dalton and brother, Frank Dalton.
Strick graduated from Western Carolina University with a BA in Social Studies, a Master’s Degree in Administration from UNCC and a 6 year degree from Chapel Hill in Administration. He served over 30 years in multiple Cabarrus County Schools as a teacher, then principal. Strick loved being at the beach, whether fishing, playing golf, or enjoying time with his family. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church in Harrisburg.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Susan Weaver Dalton; daughter, Erin D. Plummer and husband, Rusty of Harrisburg; son, Erik A. Dalton and wife, Abbie of NY; grandsons, Jeron Plummer and Luka Dalton; sisters, Diane Camp of NY and Rhoda Locklear of Monroe; brothers, Elwin Dalton and Olin Dalton and wife, Melvia, all of Concord; sister-in-law, Joanie Dalton of Concord; numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cabarrus County Education Foundation, 4401 Old Airport Road, Concord, NC 28025.
