Mrs. Shirley Ann Joplin Denney, 76, of Concord, passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at Atrium Health-Cabarrus, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on July 26, 1947, in Ironton, OH, to the late Evelyn and Rupert Childers. Shirley was preceded in death by her first husband, Bruce Floyd; her second husband, Tom Denney; her grandson, Cody Floyd, and several brothers and sisters.
A graveside service to honor Shirley's life will be held at a later date in Akron, Indiana.
Shirley dedicated many years of her life as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), providing care in nursing homes, hospice houses, and through in-home care. Her compassionate spirit touched the lives of many, and she found joy in sewing blankets for nursing homes and children's hospitals. Through her sewing, she aimed to bring comfort and brightness to those in need.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Crystal Long of Concord, NC; Anita Webb and her husband, Gary, of Chesapeake, OH; and her son, Bruce Floyd, and his wife, Theresa, of Akron, IN.; stepdaughter, Tonya Long of Southpoint, OH. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Samantha, Chrissy, Christy, Dougie, Aubrey and nine great-grandchildren.
As we remember Shirley, may we celebrate the warmth and love she shared with others. May she rest in eternal peace.
