Ms. Sherry Ann Burris Kirks, age 72 of Midland, NC passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at Atrium Health Cabarrus surrounded by her loving family.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, February 14 at 12:00 pm at Oakwood Cemetery with Rev. Buddy Hoffner officiating. The family will speak to friends at the cemetery following the service.

Sherry was born August 10, 1952 in Cabarrus County and was a daughter of the late William "Willie" Thomas Burris and Mary "Maw" Garmon Burris. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Claude A. Burris "Booster", Donald R. Burris "Donnie", Clyde R. Burris, Carl E. Burris and her sister Carolyn S. Jennings.

Sherry was happiest getting to spend quality time with her children and doting and loving on her grandchildren who will miss her dearly. Sherry retired from Pillowtex in July 2003 following a long time career at Cannon Mills as a weaver. Sherry was a devoted Christian woman who always held fast to her faith. She loved to care for and talk to her longtime companion parrot friend Rita.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Kevin Kirks and his wife Sybil of Salisbury; her daughter, Shelia Drake and her husband Jay of Concord; grandsons, Joshua Kirks, Jacob Philemon and Jonah Kirks; granddaughter, Madison Philemon; great granddaughter, Chloe Kirks; brother, Kenneth Ray Burris; many nieces and nephews.
