Shearell Faye Watkins, better known to those who loved her as “Faye-Faye” or Faye was born on January16, 1950 to Calvin and Willie Bell Hill in their home in Plantersville, Alabama. Faye has twelve siblings; Nettie, Betty, George, Percy (predeceased), Minnie (predeceased), Carol, Calvin, Juroy, Greg, Lisa, and Lorene McGhee, all of whom she loved immensely and remained close to all her life. She was a beautiful child and a natural care giver, helping her mother with her younger siblings, as well as many of her nieces and nephews. Faye graduated from Brantley High School in Selma Alabama, and soon thereafter moved to New York where she met and married her first husband and had five wonderful sons - Jerrold Miles (Christine Miles), Leonard Miles, John Miles Jr. (Soraya Miles), David Miles (predeceased), Michael Miles (Erica Merkin). Faye worked for many years helping the mentally disabled as a supervisor at Letchworth Village in Rockland County, New York while raising her children. She went on to graduate with a degree from Westchester Business Institute, Summa Cum Laude. She eventually met and married her second husband, Keith Watkins, the love of her life. They were blessed with a grand-daughter, Maniyah, who they lovingly raised as their own. They lived happily for many years together in Spring Valley, New York until moving to their home in Concord, North Carolina.
Faye was a stunningly beautiful woman…always stylish! She was often mistaken by her son's friends as their sister, and not their mother. A quietly intelligent woman with a creative mind, she loved crafting, reading and writing poetry. She was also known to never turn down a trip to a garage sale or thrift shop where costume jewelry was her guilty pleasure. Faye was famous for her cooking. When holidays and events came around, family and friends would look forward to enjoying her amazing food - especially her sweet potato pies. Although Faye outwardly had a quiet reserve, her strength was in her willingness to give unconditionally and fully - she never said no. Her gentle heart and caring soul will be deeply missed by all who knew, and loved her.
In addition to her siblings and children, Faye is survived by her grandchildren who she loved dearly: David, Morgan, Olivia, Allyx, Xavier, Alexis, Wesley, Ryan, Juliana, Gabriel, Elijah, Harmony, Aria; her great-grandchildren: Jade, Julius, Zai and a host of cherished nieces and nephews.
