Senah Anne Buchanan Seagle, age 74, of Bristol, Tennessee and Crescent Beach, Florida died November 23, 2016 at Tucker Hospice House in Concord, NC following a series of strokes beginning in February 2016.
Senah was the eldest daughter of the late Hubert Keys Buchanan, Jr. and the late Senah Goodpasture Buchanan. She is the sister of the late Hubert Keys Buchanan III and the late Linda Susan Buchanan.
She is survived by her daughter Senah Seagle Andrews of Concord, NC and her son in law Charles Dominic Andrews. Senah adored her two grandsons Charles Dominic Andrews II and Michael Keys Andrews. Senah also was a special grandmother “by love not blood” to Brittney Thompson and great grandmother to Desiree Honeycutt. She was fondly known as Mimi to all the grandchildren and was loved and adored by all. Senah is survived also by a niece Tiffany Buchanan Sadeski and her husband Joey Sadeski and children Michael and Alec Velasquez and Zoey Sadeski of Seabrook, Texas. Senah was fortunate to have many cousins who were close like siblings and shared so many wonderful adventures together.
Senah lived a life of service engaging in every community she lived in. She supported local charities often volunteering in a variety of capacities at the local food pantry, battered women’s shelter, Habitat for Humanity, numerous church committees and personally serving and supporting friends and neighbors in their time of need. Senah believed she had a duty to build strong communities and supported the arts and cultural offerings to enrich the lives of people in her town. She was an active member of historical societies and garden clubs in New Bern, NC and Bristol, Tennessee. She supported local theater and music enjoying performances frequently with friends. She was particularly proud of Bristol’s development in recent years often referencing the growth and new opportunities found in her small town. The Country Music Hall of Fame, Rhythm and Roots Music Festival and Bristol’s thriving art scene were favorite topics of discussion and bragging rights!
Senah was a graduate of Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, Virginia where she studied Psychology, Religion and Philosophy. Early in her career she was a social worker followed by her chosen role of stay at home mother. When reentering the work force Senah briefly worked at an inpatient psychiatric facility once again connecting with her love of psychology. Eventually Senah found her calling in the field of real estate where she excelled as an agent/broker utilizing her talents to create special homes for so many in the Gainesville, Florida area. Senah was very proud of the reputation she built based on high ethical standards and personal commitment to every client. Senah truly loved this work and it showed!
Senah enjoyed many hobbies including tennis, golf and sailing. She loved history and was privileged to restore a historic home in New Bern, NC in the late 1970s to early 1980s. She loved birdwatching and all things in nature. Her love of landscapes and flowers evolved into a deep passion for gardening. Senah truly had a green thumb and created living works of art. She was able to take a blank canvas and create the most beautiful landscapes incorporating Asian flare and interesting water features. Senah used her talents to decorate churches at Christmas, to landscape her beach condo grounds and to teach her daughter how to create a beautiful home and yard. Her work has enhanced so many properties and brought joy to all who could share in the beauty.
The single most important thing in Senah’s life was her love of friends and family. Her daughter, son in law and grandchildren were spoiled rotten by her attention and fierce loyalty. In her eyes they were “perfect” and she never missed an opportunity to tell others and grab a “brag moment!” Senah had friends all over the country. She lived in many cities throughout her life and developed lasting friendships and wonderful memories. When she loved someone she went “all in” supporting and nurturing the relationship. This was evident even in her last days on Earth when friends and family called, sent cards and even travelled to see Senah one last time to show her how much she was loved and would truly be missed. Senah continued to show concern and fierce loyalty to her friends even requesting they take care of one another after she was gone. Even in her final days her mind was focused on those she would leave behind. Her legacy of love and life will be treasured by all who knew and loved her.
A celebration of life will be held in both states Senah called home.
