Sarah Caudle Edwards, 91, passed away at Atrium Cabarrus on May 3, 2022.
A 2:00 pm graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 21 at Sharon Memorial Park inside the mausoleum. The family will greet friends following the service. Rev. Steve Ayers will officiate.
Sarah was born on September 13, 1930 in Anson County. Her parents were Zebulon A. and Letha Newton Caudle. She was a graduate of Meredith College and went on to obtain her master’s from Appalachian State University. She then had a long teaching career at Pittsboro, A.L. Brown, and Anson High Schools where she taught Business Education. In 1964 Sarah built a pool at her home in order to teach swimming lessons and life-saving skills. She wanted others in the community to enjoy water activities safely. She taught lessons at her home for a span of 21 years. She also enjoyed horseback riding, playing bridge, teaching Sunday School, and spending time with her husband and beloved dogs. She was also an active member of McGill Baptist Church prior to her decline in health. She was widowed from Earl J. Edwards in 1985 and preceded in death by her brothers, Craven, Norman, and Broadus; and nephew, Donald.
Mrs. Edwards is survived by her nephew, Neil Caudle(Mary Jane Nirdlinger); nieces, Patricia Caudle Hunter, Catherine L. Caudle, Barbara Caudle Huff, Gladys “GiGi” Caudle Hines, and Lisa Guthrie Caudle (Donald’s wife); five great nephews and three great nieces.
