Sandra Lynette Yates

CONCORD- Sandra “Sandy” Murr Yates, 73, passed away at Atrium Health NorthEast on November 18, 2018.

Funeral services will be 2pm Friday at Wilkinson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 12:30 to 2pm at Wilkinson Funeral Home.

Sandra was born January 26, 1945 in Cabarrus County. She was the daughter of Harry S. and Bessie Eury Murr. After graduating from Concord High School in 1963 Sandy went to work for Concord Telephone Company for over 38 years. She enjoyed going to the beach and eating seafood there. She loved everything Elvis. She will be remembered for her sense of humor and her love for her family. She was a good wife and mother and like to tell people that her grandchildren kept her on her toes. She was preceded in death by her husband of forty years, Ernest W. “Buddy” Yates Sr.

Mrs. Yates is survived by her daughter, Holley Y. Whitcher and husband Rod of Mt. Pleasant; son, E.W. “Buddy” Yates and wife Diana of Concord; brother, Sam Murr and wife Kim of Concord; and grandchildren, Desiny, Blake, and Caden Yates, Hannah, Anthony, Madison, and Nikki Brooks, and Bethany and Rodney Whitcher and another granddaughter on the way.
