Sandra Saxman

Mrs. Sandra Walters Saxman, formerly of Northumberland, PA passed away at her home on December 5, 2017.

She was born July 23, 1948 in Harrisburg, PA, the youngest of six daughters to Harry E. and Sara E. Walters of Hersey, PA. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two sisters, Nancy Morrett and Dorothy (Dot) O’Donnell.

On October 6, 1973, she married Harry Edward (Ed) Saxman at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Hershey, PA. Her death breaks a marital union of 44 years. They moved to Northumberland in 1975 and spent 35 lovely years there, until moving to Concord, NC in 2010 after retirement.

Sandy is survived by her husband, Ed; two sons and daughters-in-law, Joshua D. Saxman and wife, Jenny of Germantown, WI and Christopher W. Saxman and wife, Krista of Concord, NC; five beautiful grandchildren, Emily, Julia, Aiden, Natalie and Ryan. She is also survived by three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Helen Ouimet of Palmdale, CA, Mary and Barry Timmins of Hummelstown, PA, Sara (Sally) Harner of Athens, Ohio and Joe O’Donnell of Middletown, PA; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jim and Pauline Saxman of Dupont, WA, and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

Prior to retirement, she worked 15 years as the secretary to the departments of Communications and Theater at Susquehanna University. She loved being actively involved in her boys’ sporting activities, and helping run the concessions for the Pineknotter Little League for several years. She also was very active in the Selinsgrove Relay for Life at Susquehanna for many years.

She loved the beach, from the 1990s when her sons worked at Funland in Rehoboth Beach, Del., and later during many trips to Myrtle Beach, other Atlantic beach towns and three trips to Key West.

A memorial service will be planned in Northumberland at a later date.
