Ronald Doland Wooley, 78, of Concord, North Carolina passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at Atrium Health Charlotte on December 19, 2023.
Ron was born April 28, 1945, in Monroe, La. He grew up in Downsville, La. He worked and retired from General Motors in Louisiana. He was a graduate of Downsville High School and attended Louisiana Tech University. He married Gail in October 1992. They moved to North Carolina in 2002 and enjoyed a wonderful life together for 31 years.
Ron enjoyed traveling, camping, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a man of many talents that could fix or build anything. He attended Multiply Church Concord. He recently took a month-long RV trip to Louisiana with Gail and spent time with friends and family that he had not seen in many years. Ron was the kind of person that felt like a lifelong friend after meeting him for the first time. He made everyone feel special and remembered the names of everyone he had ever met. He would spend many hours on his walks talking to the many friends he made in the neighborhood. He was always present. He showed up for everyone he knew, especially his grandkids. He came to ball games, school events, and everything else he was invited to. He was a devoted husband, brother, dad, grandad, and friend. We know that he is in a better place, but we can’t help to wish he was still here with us.
He was preceded in death by his parents Luther and Georgia Wooley; Brothers Herley, L.J., and Milton; sisters Evelyn Kitchens and Faye Hardy.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Gail; sister Carolyn Garland and husband Malcolm of Downsville, LA; sons Scott Wooley and wife Stacie of Monroe, LA, Todd Wooley and wife Christy of Mount Pleasant, NC, Shane Wooley and wife Robin of Monroe, LA, and Ricky Wallace and wife Rebecca of Barnesville, GA; daughters Becky Wooley of Edenton, NC, Kelly Scharber and husband Dan of Rogers, MN, Marsha Holloman and husband Wayne of Newnan, GA, and Terri Accardo and husband Jamie of Concord, NC; grandchildren Cody Wooley, Beaux Wooley, Megan Wooley, Kayla Wooley, Taylor Wooley, Tripp Wooley, Chase Wooley, Allison Wooley, Katlyn Wooley, Hannah Scharber, Peyton Scharber, Millie Scharber, Beau Scharber, Otto Scharber, Jackson Choat, Emma Holloman, Collin Accardo, Cannon Accardo, and Vivie Wallace; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
