Rob was born in Wayne County, Michigan, and was the son of Robert R. Cronan and the late Naomi Esther Kuck Cronan.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his loving wife, Paula Cronan; children, Crystal, Robby and Kelly Cronan; grandchildren, Grace and Erik Pope; sisters, Susan Lenart, Karen Patton, Linda Anderson; brothers, Jim and Brian Cronan; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Rob was an IT Specialist and an active member of St. James the Greater Catholic Church, where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He served our community in many capacities as well. He was the best example on how to make life a good time. He loved his family and friends with the same passion he lived life. He was the mountain you didn’t know you wanted to hike, or the waterfall you never thought you would see, let alone slide down. He loved every sunrise and sunset. The part of NASCAR you never thought you would love. The devoted Detroit fan whose love of the game ran deep, and he passed it on to his children, nieces and nephews. His quiet voice was always loud with motivation. He thought everyone could do it and he told you so. He didn’t talk about volunteering, he volunteered. At Special Olympics, the boys and girls club, the night shelter and so much more. The children who called him coach were countless. He was the chuckle and smirk of love after he said something in jest. He could be your tech support, emotional support, and gps before gps was a thing. If you started walking your dog today, you could never walk them as many times as he walked his. He was the voice of reason if you ever dealt with grief. He was so much more than anyone could ever write into words. He had his faults, but he was one in a million and was always there when you needed him. He will be missed tremendously.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the St. James Catholic Church Knights of Columbus, 139 Manor Avenue, Concord, NC 28025.
