Mr. Robbie “Buddy” Monroe Ervin of Rubens Road, passed away Friday, September 29, 2017 at his home.
A memorial service to honor his service and life will be 11 am Thursday at Central Baptist Church on Moose Road in Kannapolis. The family will receive friends at 10 am Thursday at the church. Inurnment will be 1 pm Thursday at the V A National Cemetery in Salisbury with military honors.
Robbie was born April 10, 1948 in Concord to the late Arthur David Ervin and Margaret Ellen Hartsell Ervin. He attended Winecoff School. Robbie was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam Conflict.
He earned the Vietnam service medal, Vietnam Campaign medal, 2 overseas bars, National Defense service medal, and sharp shooter with both M-14 and M-16. Robbie had been a truck driver by profession, working for Standard Trucking and later for Terminal Trucking before retirement. He retired early, and along with his sister, they cared for their father until his death. Robbie loved playing golf, and being with friends.
Robbie is survived by his wife of 42 years, Shelia Jordan Ervin; sister, Melinda Jordan and her husband William; niece, Leslie Honeycutt; great nephew, Matthew Honeycutt; and special niece Keara Prince.
