Mr. Richard Charles Whitaker, age 77 of Concord passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Sunday, March 23, 2025.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 28th at 4:00 pm at Kannapolis Church of Christ with Pastor Kirk Sams officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.

Mr. Whitaker was born on March 5, 1948 in Apalachin, New York and was the son of Robert Whitaker and Anne Mae Krasko Whitaker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Slate Whitaker in 2021.

Richard had a career in IT as a systems analyst. He was also a proud veteran having served in the US Marine Corps. He was a member of Kannapolis Church of Christ, was an avid fisherman and hunter, and loved his family very much, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Richard is survived by his sons, Steven Whitaker and wife, Rachel of Concord, and Bob Whitaker and wife Tannis of Statesville: 7 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; brothers, Bob Whitaker and wife, Janice of Nebraska, and Gary Whitaker of Arizona; a host of extended family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Kannapolis Church of Christ, 2315 Concord Lake Road, Kannapolis, NC 28083 or a charity of your choice.
