Raymond Porter

Raymond Porter Sr. son of Maude and Robert Porter was born on February 19, 1941, in Elizabeth, NJ. He fell asleep in death after a long battle with illness, on November 30, 2024. He was one of thirteen siblings. He attended the city of Elizabeth Public School system, where he graduated from Jefferson High School. After graduation he served in the US Army with an honorable discharge on September 13, 1967. He resided in Rahway, NJ before moving to Concord, NC in 2014.

He leaves behind to mourn his wife Beverly of 37 years, children Laquan Ismail (Audrey), Lori Porter Mazard (Richard), and stepdaughters Lynn Wilkinson (Tony), Jessica James, and Erica Rogers. Siblings Carolyn Shipman, Ann Toney, Russel Porter, Donald Porter, and nine grandchildren, six great-grand children and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Staci Porter, his parents Maude and Robert Porter, siblings Dorothy Bolden, Robert Porter Jr., Gladys Ruth, Bernard Porter, Leon Porter, Thelma Porter, Marian Sims, David Porter, and his son-in-law Keith Rodgers.

He worked at JB Williams Pharmaceuticals, then moved on to Schering Plough Pharmaceuticals, before retiring. Throughout his life he was a good and caring person and could always turn a bad situation into a good one, so those involved could get a laugh out of it. His wife Beverly will always cherish his loving memory as well as the rest of his family.
