Ray Swindell Hill left his earthly home 11/17/2016 to enter his heavenly home he was born in Cabarrus County to Paul and Georgia Hill he was the oldest of three children. He is survived by his sister Peggy Helms and Husband Kenneth and his brother Carl Hill and wife Joyce. He was an outstanding athlete at Mt. Pleasant High School after high school he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served in the military for fifteen and one half years. Ray's accomplishment in life was driving race cars in NASCAR to working in the racing industry from building cars and engines, he was race director for Hoosier Race Tires and ultimately working for NASCAR as Cup Series competition director and Busch Series competition director he also won the Bobby Isaac memorial Award in 1999. He finally retired from NASCAR, to work on his farm, hunt with his dog Banjo and fish. He moved from the farm and for the last three years his wife and he lived on High Rock Lake.
Ray is survived by his wife, Lois Long Hill of 48 years together; three children, Lanny Ray Hill and wife Janie, Diane Hill Hearne and husband Terry, Lance A Hill and wife Suzette. He is survived by six grand-children, Jennifer and Kevin Pruden, Clint and Jennifer Poston, Matthew and Pilar Hearne, Whitney and Sam Ketner, Bradley Hearne, and granddaughter Suzanna Hill; four great-grand-children, Chloe, Jax, Banx Ketner, and Liam Pruden.
Wilkinson Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. The family will receive friends from 12:00 am until 3:00 pm on Monday, November 21, 2016 with service at Wilkinson Funeral Home Chapel following visitation at 3:00. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
