Randell Lee Carter

March 11, 1954 — December 9, 2018

Randell “Randy” Lee Carter, age 64, went home to be with the Lord Sunday morning, December 9, 2018 following a courageous 14-year battle with cancer.

A celebration of Randy’s life will be Saturday, December 15 at Hickory Grove Baptist Church (North Campus). The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:30 pm in the Event Center with a memorial service to follow at 2:30. Pastors, Ric Blazi, Gerald Malloy, Kyler Smith and Casey Norkett will lead the service.

Randy was born March 11, 1954 in Cabarrus County. He was the son of Wade N. Carter, Sr. of Concord and the late Frances Hodge Carter. Randy graduated from Central Cabarrus High School in 1972 where he was Senior Class President. He was a gifted mechanic who could fix anything with a motor. He held many jobs using these skills, with retiring from Cabarrus County School’s bus garage in 2015.

Randy was a faithful member of Hickory Gove Baptist Church (North Campus). He loved riding motorcycles and had been riding for years. Countless memories and stories are etched in the hearts and minds of friends who shared this love with him. He also enjoyed spending time with his son at numerous USPSA gun competitions, most recently, having competed on a national level. Anything Randy was involved in, he gave whole heartedly. His loss has left a big hole in the hearts of so many, but they are grateful that he is at peace with his Lord and Savior.

Survivors include his wife of 16 years, Kathy Daye Carter; son, Nathan Carter and his wife, Sharee of Concord; daughter, Heather Carter of Concord; granddaughter, Jessalyn Carter; brother, Wade Carter, Jr. and wife, Sharon of Concord; sister, Debbie Cagle and husband, Mark of Asheboro; numerous nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Dr. James Wall and staff at Levine Cancer Institute of Concord for their love and support given to Randy and his family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Hickory Grove Baptist Church (North Campus), 13200 Mallard Creek Road, Charlotte, NC 28262; Locks of Love, 234 Southern Blvd, West Palm Beach, FL 33405-2701; or to a charity of your choice.
