Phyllis Nelms Harward, 80, of Concord, passed away at Brookdale Assisted Living on May 7, 2021.
Funeral services will be 2pm Wednesday, May 12, 2021, at St. James Lutheran Church with Rev. Tony Bradshaw officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive from 12:30 to 2pm in the church fellowship hall.
Phyllis was born on June 27, 1940 in Cabarrus County to Bill Nelms and Mazie Walter Nelms Stack. She was an active member of St. James Lutheran Church where she was in the Mary Magdalene Circle. She was also in the Mary Tiller Garden Club and played bridge. She was a longtime volunteer with Cabarrus Meals-on-Wheels, and also worked with jewelry. She was preceded in death by her husband, T.H. “Ty” Harward.
Mrs. Harward is survived by her daughter, Amy H. Splawn (Terry) of Concord; son, Chip Harward (Kim) of Kannapolis; brother, Gary Nelms (Marsha) of Waxhaw; grandchildren, Callie MacFarlane (Ben), Mallory Horton (Trey), Alexandra Green (Justin), Jazmin Harward, and C.J. Harward; and great grandchildren, Sophie, Langdon, Calen, Elliot, Eva, Blake, and one on the way.
The family wishes to thank Hospice of Cabarrus County (esp. Brook, Sandy, and Genine) and the staff at Brookdale of Concord for their wonderful care of Phyllis.
