Peggy Lowder Dry, 79, of Concord, North Carolina was welcomed into heaven at 4:50 pm on January 26; she passed on surrounded by the love of her family. Peggy was born May 31, 1937 in Cabarrus County; she was the daughter of the late Houston Brack and Minnie Carter Lowder.
One of the first female broker/owner realtors in the area, Peggy was an inspiration and role model for women in the business community. She began her real estate career in 1977, and opened her own firm, Century 21 First Alliance Realty, Inc. in 1984. Not only did Peggy grow the business into one of the top producing real estate agencies in the county, but she also achieved many personal accolades. She served as president of the Central Carolina Association of Realtors, was on its Board of Directors for many years, and was named the association’s Realtor of the Year. Always one to think of others first, Peggy volunteered in a multitude of ways in the community. She served on numerous community councils and boards in a variety of leadership roles and was past director of the Greater Cabarrus County Humane Society. She created and organized an annual Century 21 golf tournament to benefit Easter Seals for several years. After twenty years of successfully running her company, Peggy sold Century 21 First Alliance Realty in 2004 to allow more time for her family and friends and to continue her lifelong passion of travel.
Peggy delighted in travel and did so extensively. Her travels took her to the ends of the earth and everywhere in between: throughout Europe, Russia, China, Israel, the Middle East, India, and Nepal, countless countries in Central and South America, as well as the United States. Her home was filled with mementos and memories from around the world.
Her greatest joy was her family and friends. She is survived by three children: Gerald (Gerry) Dry and his wife, Malinda Allred Dry, of Concord; Susan Dry Duclos and her husband, Theodore (Ted) Duclos, of Heidelberg, Germany; and DeAnna (Dede) Dry Brewer and her husband, Scott Brewer, of Concord. She was an adored Grandmother to her eight grandchildren: Wesley, Caitlin, William, and Whitaker Dry; Lauren, Katrina, and Bryan Duclos; and Ethan Brewer. A cherished mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Peggy will be missed for her loving and caring ways. She was intensely loved and admired by many more family members and loyal friends near and far. Her family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to all of her friends and extended family for their friendship, steadfast encouragement, prayers, and love.
A celebration of Peggy’s life will be held on Saturday January 28, 2017, at 2:00pm at Kerr Street United Methodist Church where she was a trustee and lifetime member. The family will receive freinds from 1-2 prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kerr Street United Methodist Church.
