Mr. Paul Robert Tassey, Sr., 88 of Concord passed away on Wednesday September 14, 2016 at CMC NorthEast. The family will receive friends on Friday from 2 to 3pm at Wilkinson Funeral Home, the funeral will follow at 3pm in the chapel of Wilkinson Funeral Home with Pastor Jessie Watkins officiating. Burial will take place at West Concord Cemetery.
Mr. Tassey was born on September 19, 1927 in Moorestown, NJ to the late William and Gertrude Tassey. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Helen Kennedy Tassey and three brothers, David, Bill and Jimmy Tassey. He is survived by his son, Mr. Paul Robert Tassey, Jr and wife Kelly; two grandchildren, Robert G. Tassey and Beth Tassey and two great grandchildren, Makayla and Ethan; two brother in laws, Eddie Kennedy and wife Linda and Jack Furr; 2 sister-in-laws Nell Ferguson and Jean Simpson all of Concord, along with two grandchildren, Robert G. Tassey and Beth Tassey and two great grandchildren, McKayla and Ethan.
Mr. Tassey retired from Johnson Motor Lines as a truck driver. He was in the US ARMY, Merchant Marines and was a Paratrooper for the 82nd Airborne in WWII and has been around the world twice by water. Paul was a member of Southside Baptist Church and former Sunday School Teacher. He also enjoyed fishing and being with family and friends at his beach house at Holden Beach. Paul was a kind hearted man and was loved by so many. He was the person anyone could count on, if anyone ever needed anything he was there at anytime. Paul also ran his own business for 50 years as a landlord.
