Patrick "Pat" Bynon McGarrell

Mr. Patrick "Pat" Bynon McGarrell age 88 of Longs, SC and formerly of Concord, NC passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, January 16, 2025.

The family will receive friends on Monday, January 20th at Wilkinson Funeral Home in Concord, NC from 12 to 1pm. A service of celebration will be held in the funeral home chapel at 1pm with Rev. Robert Leonard officiating.

Pat was born December 31, 1936 in Roanoke, VA and was the son of James and Maude McGarrell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 28 years, Saundra Jolly McGarrell, and siblings, Jimmy McGarrell, Irvin McGarrell, Adelaide Wright, and Jane Wright.

Pat proudly served our country in the United States Air Force as an Airman 2nd Class and earned a Bachelors and Master of Business Administration Degree from UNC Charlotte. He retired from Belk Store Services and the pastoral care department of Atrium Health Cabarrus. He was an active member of Living Water Baptist Church in Longs and enjoyed spending time with his family.

Those left to cherish wonderful memories of Pat is his wife of 35 years, LaMyra Barnhardt McGarrell; children, Ann Whitley and husband Bobby, Leigh Broome and husband Mark, Claudia McGarrell, Scott McGarrell and Merissa Plummer and husband Randy; grandchildren, Lauren Whitley, Matthew Whitley and wife Mary, David Broome and wife Connie, Eric Broome and wife Lynzie, Patrick McGarrell, Casey McGarrell, Jacob Plummer, Peyton Plummer, and Jessa Plummer; great-grandchildren, Preston Whitley, Stetson Whitley, Ada Kate Whitley, Elowen Whitley, and Benjamin Broome; sister, Susan Arnold and husband George; a host of extended relatives and friends who will miss Pat dearly.
