Patricia Iglehart

January 18, 1962 — January 27, 2023

Mrs. Patricia Iglehart, 61, of Concord, passed away peacefully and surrounded by loved ones on Friday January 27, 2023.

Patricia Iglehart, known to her family and friends as Tricia, was born on January 18, 1962 in Memphis, TN to Walter and Norma Hamilton. Prior to beginning her career as a flight attendant for American Airlines, she graduated from The University of Memphis. Shortly after meeting Dr. Jim Iglehart, they married and had two daughters, Julia Ruth and Rebecca Wayne.

Tricia played an active role in the community. A natural entertainer, her door was always open. Simply put, she was fun and uplifting to be around. She was playful with an ability to make anyone feel at ease. Ask her where she was from and she would joke in her strong southern accent, “Jersey.” A true hype-woman, she made you feel like the best version of yourself. She could amplify dreams and believe in someone when they couldn’t for themself.

Tricia’s friends will remember her kindness and generosity. There was a steady stream of stray animals adopted into her home. She maintained the principle that having a messy house with a lot of pets and a lot of love is always better than pristine furniture without claw marks. She projected so much love into the world, but her heart shone with Jim. They truly enjoyed each other’s company like childhood best friends. Whether they were running errands, saying, “no one should have to do chores alone,” traveling to Europe, or watching a Carolina ball game, they were smiling and holding hands. February 20th will mark 35 years of marriage between Jim and Tricia.

Her friends were family, and her family was her world. There aren’t words to describe the dedication and deep love she devoted to her daughters. She taught them love, loyalty, and strength, and her daughters felt proud and privileged to call her “Mama.”

No amount of time with Tricia ever could have been enough. She was a go-to person for any occasion (or mood-swing). Whether it was to go shopping or because you simply needed to lay your head in her lap and cry, she answered the phone and later sent you home with enough food to last a week.

Tricia had a strong faith and joins her parents, brother, and daughter in Heaven, along with 52 cats.

Tricia is survived by husband James “Jim” N. Iglehart; daughter Rebecca Iglehart; sister Janet Carter and brother Robert Smith both of Memphis, and other extended family members.
