Ray Faggart

Parks Ray Faggart, age 93, passed away Saturday, January 9, 2021 at St. Andrews Assisted Living Center.

He was born February 3, 1927 to Charles Jonathan and Ruth Blackwelder Faggart in Cabarrus County. He was the third of four: Charles Eugene, William Archie and Ruth Evelyn Faggart Goodman, all deceased.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Efird Faggart. Ray and Peggy were married on August 11, 1956, for 62 years. He was also preceded in death by a son, Jonathan Efird Faggart; son-in-law, Wallace Ashley III; and granddaughter, Catherine Rae Ashley. He is survived by his son, Jeffrey Parks Faggart (Clare) of Concord; daughter-in-law, Janet Faggart of Sherman, Texas; daughter, Jan Faggart Ashley of Smithfield; grandchildren, Katrina Faggart Stockton (Blake) of Sherman, Jonathan Ryan Faggart (Katie) of Syracuse, N.Y., Elizabeth Stone Ashley of Smithfield, Wallace Raines Ashley of Smithfield; and great-grandchildren, Abigail and Hannah Stockton of Sherman, and Elishevea Rose Faggart of Syracuse, N.Y., and a number of nieces and nephews.

Ray was an honors graduate of Odell High School. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a cosmetologist, owner of Ray’s Beauty since 1947. He retired in 2020 at 93. He won many major hairstyling awards and served as president of the North Carolina Hairdressers and Cosmetologists Association in 1971-72, followed by 10 years of service as Chairman of the Board. He loved his family, his church, his work and the people he served.

Ray was a member of St. James Lutheran Church. A private memorial graveside service honoring God and Ray, will be held Monday, January 25, 2021 at 11:00 am

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Saint James Lutheran Church, 104 Union St. S, Concord, NC 28025, or to Hospice & Palliative Care Lake Norman, 705 Griffin Street, Suite 203, Davidson, NC 28036.
