Allen O'Neal

November 15, 1927 — October 10, 2023

Allen O’Neal, a veteran of World War II and resident of Pinehurst passed away at First Health Hospice on October 10, 2023.

Allen was born November 15, 1927 in Seaford, Delaware to the late Oscar and Mildred O’Neal. He was preceded in death by his brother, Lawrence O’Neal, his sisters Elizabeth Meluney and Margaret Carter, his daughter, Kimberly O’Neal and his wife of 64 years, Ann O’Neal.

Allen joined the Marine Corp in 1946 and served for seven years. He was the Corporate Vice President of Operations when he retired from Seneca Foods in 1993 after a 40 year career.

Allen never met a stranger and always said “Just call me Al”. He loved to problem solve and was always open to learning. He took the greatest pleasure in the simple things. He was a longtime member of Pinehurst United Methodist Church and volunteered many years at First Health Moore Regional Hospital.

Survivors include daughters, JoAnn Mattio of Chicago Heights, IL, Sue Brown of Dallas, GA, Nancy Aldrich (Dale) of Maitland, FL, Mary Collington (Fred) of Orlando, FL and Gayle Seifel (Mark) of Concord, NC; a son, Michael Boney; grandchildren and numerous other family and friends.

A memorial service with military honors will be held at Pinehurst United Methodist Church on Sunday, November 19, 2023 at 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Pinehurst United Methodist Church, 4111 Airport Road, Pinehurst, NC 28374.
