Odus Weaver

Mr. Odus Frederick Weaver (Fred), age 101 of Harrisburg, NC passed away peacefully at his home on February 13, 2025.

His funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at 3:00 pm at Wilkinson Funeral Home in Concord with Dr. John Cashwell officiating. The family will have a receiving following the funeral at Wilkinson until 4:30pm. The graveside will take place at Mountain Rest Cemetery in Kings Mountain, NC at a later time.

Fred was born on November 6, 1923, in Clover, SC and was the son of the late Buron Odus Weaver and Avalonia Hambright Weaver. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 68 years Dorthy Patterson Weaver, two infant sons, son-in-law Strickland Charles Dalton, sisters Adelaide Weaver Roberts and Myrtice Weaver, and nephew Hawthorne "Thorn" Miller.

He served as a Sergeant in the 11th Air Force during World War II from 1942-1946 and received the Good Conduct Medal, the American Theater Ribbon, the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, and the WWII Victory Medal. Fred worked for the US Postal Service in King Mountain and retired as the Postmaster there in 1988. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church Kings Mountain for most of his life and continued to serve the church and community once he moved to Concord in 2001.

He is survived by his daughter Susan Weaver Dalton, granddaughter Erin Dalton Plummer (Russell), grandson Erik Dalton (Abbie) and three great grandsons Jeron Plummer, Luka Dalton, and Kaleb Dalton

Nieces and Nephews- Warren Roberts Jr. (Robin), Lisa Ruggles (Steve), Patricia Carrol (Don), Greg Patterson (Judy), Charlotte Bowers Cunningham (Jeff), and Mark Bush (Stephanie) as well as many extended family members in the Dalton and Blanton families.

The family is grateful for his in-home caregivers who have been by his side daily for many years: Melissa Shoupe, Christy McDufford, Toni Almond, Annie Miller Veloz, Mary Swayze, Charleigh Miller, and Amelia Hodsden.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in honor and memory of Fred to Habitat for Humanity or Baptist on Mission.
