Norman Crumpton

February 15, 1944 — February 25, 2023

Mr. Norman Roger Crumpton passed peacefully on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at the age of 79 at Transitional Health Care in Kannapolis, NC after a long illness.

Norman is survived by his wife of 58 years, Patsy Stephens Crumpton, Concord, NC; son, Stephen R. Crumpton (Gayle), Charlotte, NC; grandson James Daniel (Jill), Charlotte, NC; great-grandson, Grayson, Charlotte, NC; brother, Bayard Crumpton (Janice), Roxboro, NC; sisters-in-law, Libby Crumpton, Fuquay-Varina, NC, Teen Crumpton, West Jefferson, NC; also nephews, nieces, great nieces and nephews and many cousins; all of whom he loved very much.

Norman was born in Roxboro, NC on February 15, 1944, the second of four sons born to the late Elsie Hassan Crumpton and George Roger Crumpton. He is also preceded in death by his brothers, Ronnie Crumpton and Ferris Crumpton. He was raised on a farm in Person County, learning much building, maintenance, mechanical and electrical knowledge from his father. After graduating from Roxboro High School in 1962 he moved to Colonial Heights, VA. His electrical career began as maintenance electrician at DuPont in Richmond, VA. He began his apprenticeship for an electrical contractor while attending classes to earn his journeyman, then Master Electrician licenses. That lead to Electrical Inspector; then Head of Building Code for City of Colonial Heights, VA; member of BOCA (Building Officials Code Administrators) Commonwealth of Virginia in Richmond until his retirement in 2005 at 62.

Norman and Patsy move to Florida until health problems brought them back to NC in 2015. They are members of Central United Methodist Church, Concord, NC.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Transitional Health for their loving care of Norman and Gentiva Hospice.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm, on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at Burchwood Cemetery in Roxboro, NC. The family will greet friends following the service.
