Mrs. Norma Lee Litaker Mosley, 78, of Concord, passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at Tucker Hospice House.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at St. James Lutheran Church, officiated by Rev. Craig Saltzer. The family will receive friends following the service in the church Fellowship Hall.
Norma was born on August 7, 1944 in Concord, NC to the late Flora Lee Deaton Litaker and Roy Daniel Litaker.
Norma was a graduate of Concord High School, class of 1962, and Lenoir Rhyne College, class of 1963.
Norma began her secretarial career with Cannon Mills, later moving to Concord City Schools in 1972, and retired from Cabarrus County Schools in 2006. As an integral part of the Human Resources Team, Norma enjoyed helping CCS employees plan their retirement. Following her own retirement, she kept herself busy volunteering weekly at Atrium Health Cabarrus Hospital.
She was a lifelong member of St. James Lutheran Church, where she served on the Altar Guild, as a Handbell Choir member, Parish Choir member, Esther Circle chairman, Church Council member, and on the Hoover Scholarship Fund committee. She also enjoyed playing piano for preschool children on Sunday mornings and helping with Vacation Bible School. She loved singing at various nursing homes with the Singing Seniors of St. James. She was a member of the Dogwood Garden Club, volunteered with CVAN, and served on the first Young Life Committee for Cabarrus County. Norma was the official driver for the many outings of the "Party of Tens," which included dinners, beach trips, shopping, and endless laughter.
Norma was an avid tennis player when she was younger and enjoyed playing in the annual Snuggs Tennis Tournament with friends.
She especially enjoyed traveling with her family to the beach, mountains, and going on many road trips, over the years covering all the lower 48 states. She also traveled with friends on St. James Lively Leisure's trips.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Tony R. Mosley; son, Todd Daniel Mosley and wife, Donna of Concord; daughter, Elizabeth Mosley Horner and husband, Jeff of Keller, TX; grandchildren, Madison Jeffery of Albemarle, Carson Mosley of Lenoir, Michael, Brian, and Layla Grace Horner, all of Keller, TX; great-grandchildren, Natalee and Abigale Jeffery of Albemarle.
She loved her family and friends, and enjoyed their many visits even in her final days. The family wishes to thank the staff at Tucker Hospice House for their love and care during Norma's short stay there.
