Mr. Ned Yadkin Hudson, age 83, of Concord, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, December 7, 2021.
The family will receive friends on Friday, December 10 from 4 to 7 pm at Wilkinson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 11 at 2 pm at St. John’s Lutheran Church with Rev. Dr. Keith Copeland officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Hudson was born October 1, 1938 in Cabarrus County, a son of the late Samuel Alexander Hudson and Ola Cress Hudson. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Glenn and Ray Hudson.
Ned graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1956 and NC State University in 1960. He was a retired Ag teacher after 33 years serving at Ledford High School in Davidson County and Mt Pleasant High School. He had served as president of the NC Ag Teacher’s Association, and president of the Vocational Association for 2 years. He was active in the St. John’s Grange, and the NC State Grange, having served as vice president for 36 years. He was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Lions Club for 61 years, and the Soil and Water Committee of Cabarrus County for 25 years, having been a past president of the NC Soil and Water Committee. Ned was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, serving on the council, Sunday school teacher, choir member and various other committees.
Ned was a loving husband, father, friend, and pillar of the community, who will be dearly missed by all those whose lives he touched. Our hearts are heavy, but we take comfort in knowing that he is with his Father in heaven.
Left to cherish the many memories is his loving wife, Dianne Blackwelder Hudson; daughter, Melanie Hudson and husband, Sandy Kee; sister, Jane Hudson Bost and husband, Brice; brother, Coy Hudson and wife, Julia; sister-in-law, Sharon Blackwelder Ritchie and husband, Gary, sister-in-law, Frances Kanipe; step-grandchildren, Madison and Morgan Kee; and numerous other loving relatives and friends.
