Nancy Troutman

December 12, 1947 — February 27, 2016

CONCORD- Nancy Hargett Troutman, 68, passed away on Saturday, February 27th after a valiant, five- year battle with ovarian cancer.

A celebration of life for Nancy will be held at First Baptist Church on Branchview Drive in Concord, NC on Saturday, March 5th at 2 p.m. The family will receive guests in the fellowship hall following the service. The Reverend Norman Snodderly, Nancy’s brother-in-law, will officiate. Her close friends Dakeita Vandeburg-Johnson and Dan Truhitte will sing songs very special to Nancy.

Nancy, the daughter of Madge Crocker and William "Bill" Hargett, was a native of Matthews, North Carolina. She attended Matthews Elementary and Junior High Schools and was a graduate of East Mecklenburg High School where she played on the basketball team. As a child and teenager, Nancy was an active member of Matthews Baptist Church. She sang in the church choir, worked on the church's summer mission projects, and taught Sunday School.

Just prior to attending Gardner Webb University, Nancy was introduced to Wayne Troutman of Concord who was also a Gardner Webb student. He became the love of her life and at the time of her passing, they had been married for 49 years.

Nancy was the proud mother of Brandon, Beth and Bill. She was a stay at home mom while they were young and later worked at a local bank and in the family-owned business. She and her family were members of First Baptist Church of Concord. Nancy sang in the choir, played hand bells, and assisted her husband with the youth choir. She was also an active member of the Jaycee Wives.

Nancy's greatest joys were her grandsons, Braylon and Bailor, and granddaughter, Graye. She spent many happy hours attending the boys’ baseball and soccer games and playing tirelessly with Graye.

Nancy loved to travel. She and Wayne enjoyed “Bucket List” trips to Scotland and Paris. They spent time cruising the Caribbean and taking their grandchildren to Disney World. Nancy and Beth also shared mother/daughter trips Kauai, Hawaii and New York City.

Nancy is survived by her loving family, Wayne, Brandon, Beth and Bill, son-in-law, Craig Whaley, daughter-in-law, Kellie Finewood, and her sister Suzanne Hargett Gulley.
