Mrs. Nancy Ann Cochran Cress, of Miller Ave., passed away Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at her home.
Her funeral will be 3 PM Saturday at Forest Hill United Methodist Church officiated by Rev. Mandy Jones. Burial will follow at St. James Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 1 PM Saturday at the church.
Nancy was born April 22, 1945 in Natick, Mass., and was raised in Birmingham, AL. She was the daughter of the late William Earl Cochran, Jr. and Jean Campbell Cochran. She was also preceded in death by brothers, W.E. “Butch” Cochran lll, and Steve Cochran. After moving to Charlotte, she graduated from Kings Business College and was employed by the Cabarrus County School System. Nancy was a devoted member of Forest Hill UMC where she served as past President of the United Methodist Women, was a member of the Singing Saints, and assisted with Friday hotdog sales. She loved golfing, camping, square dancing and visiting their getaway in the NC mountains.
Nancy is survived by her husband of 54 years, Tracy S. Cress; sons, Sam Cress and wife, Kristie, and Alan Cress and wife, Nancy, all of Concord; grandchildren, who she adored, Hailey, Logan, Greta, Kevyn, Walker, and Katherine; brothers, Tommy Cochran and wife, Mary, and Chuck Cochran and wife, Marleen, both of Charlotte; and caregiver, Katharine Wheeles.
