Myrtle "Joy" Henderson Chafin

Mrs. Myrtle "Joy" Henderson Chafin passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at Morningside of Concord.

Funeral services will be held 11:30 AM Saturday, March 8th at the Gathering Place at Multiply Church, 280 Concord Parkway S., Suite 5. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:30 AM at the church. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.

Joy was owner/operator of the former "Tasty Pastry" on Branchview Drive, in Concord, a bakery best known for their biscuits, doughnuts and cakes. However, Joy was most known for her volunteer work with Mission Outreach, Salvation Army Night Shelter (making and serving food), and at Multiply Church Senior's Group. Joy loved to serve and take care of others through her volunteer work as well as caring for her 7 children, many grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Born August 8, 1936 in Bay Minette, AL to the late George (Buddy) Henderson and Myrtle Yarborough Henderson Kroll. She was also preceded in death by husband Arnold Lee Chafin Sr., children Belinda Chafin and Matthew Chafin, as well as siblings Ted, Elaine, Mary Ann and Faye.

Joy is survived by daughters Cindy Andrews (Bob) of Concord, Frieda Rosemond (Joe) of Hillsborough, Caroline Propst of Concord, Sheila Haas (Hans) of Charlotte; son Lee Chafin (Sarah) of Conway, SC; grandchildren Jeremy Andrews, Steven Andrews, Crystal Andrews, Brandy Horton, Robbie Horton, Aubrey Chafin, Tiffany Rasavong, Adam Rosemond, Tyler Propst, Lauren Propst, Baryn Haas, Gareth Haas, Jordan Murphy, Blake Haas, Brianne Haas, Garrett Karnap, Shelby Karnap, Mattie Genoe; 10 great grandchildren; sister Joan Murray of Barrington, IL.; and other extended family members.
