Muriel Maskowsky Ketay, age 86, of Concord passed away peacefully on Monday, December 21, 2020.

Muriel was born October 22, 1934 in New York, NY, a daughter of the late David and Anna Sirlin Maskowsky. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert N. Ketay.

Muriel grew up in Torrington, CT and graduated from the Hartford Institute of Accounting. She worked as an accountant with Aetna before moving to Red Hook, NY with Bob. Muriel loved her dogs and growing flowers, winning Best in Show for both.
Muriel and her husband moved to Concord in 1980, where she became involved in her community. She was a volunteer for over 30 years for the Red Cross, which she called “her pride and joy.” Muriel received numerous awards for her outstanding service, such as the Shining Star, outstanding administrative volunteer award, certificate of appreciation in support of disaster response for Hurricane Katrina, and many others. She also volunteered with the Cabarrus County Senior Center and the Cooperative Extension Service. Muriel was a sweet and giving woman who devoted her time to helping others in need.

Muriel is survived by her sister Leah Kaplan, her three nieces and their husbands and children, and her sister-in-law Lottie Hoffman.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Red Cross Greater Carolinas Region, 2425 Park Road, Charlotte, NC 28203.

Muriel will be laid to rest with her husband at the National Cemetery in Salisbury, NC.
