Mrs. Mildred VonCannon Myers of Arlee Ct., passed away Friday, April 13, 2018 at Tucker Hospice House.
The family will receive friends beginning at 11:30 AM Monday at Westford United Methodist Church, Concord. Her funeral will follow at 1 PM, officiated by Rev. Jeff Rushing. Burial will follow at First Baptist Church of Locust.
Mildred was born October 24, 1933 in Cabarrus County to the late Charlie Lee VonCannon and Zelle Honeycutt VonCannon. She attended Western Carolina University and King’s Business College. She was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, the Reverend Benny Thomas Myers, a minister of the Methodist church; brother Everett “Buddy” VonCannon; and son-in-law Ray Barrier. Mildred retired as an employee of the North Carolina Public Schools. She was a member of Westford United Methodist church, Senior and Friends of W.U.M.C., and the Westford Faith Circle. She was a volunteer with “Meals on Wheels”. She loved to travel, visiting 17 countries, including the Holy Land.
Mildred is survived by her children, Tom Myers and wife Patti of Calabash, NC, Janet M. Barrier of Locust, Jon Myers and wife Robin of Winston-Salem, Wesley Myers and wife Susan of Concord, and sister-in-law Jane VonCannon of Midland. She was a proud grandmother to eleven grandchildren and one great grandchild. “She was so proud of her family.”
