Mrs. Mildred Ailene Rice Fisher, age 84 passed away Friday, December 8, 2017 at Levine Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at Wilkinson Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held in the chapel at 2 p.m. with burial to follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
Mrs. Fisher was born April 10, 1933 in Mecklenburg County, one of 12 children to the late Earl Bland and Ethel Herron Rice. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Carter B. Fisher; sisters, Helen Lindley, Doris Curry and Mary Rice; brothers, Bill, Blan and Clyde Rice.
Mildred grew up in the Newell community of Charlotte where she attended Charlotte schools and was in the first graduating class at East Mecklenburg High School. She was raised on a big farm, and loved telling the story of how hard they worked at "picking that cotton" and all the other farm chores. She was christened and attended Paw Creek Presbyterian Church, where her family were long time members.
Mildred was a homemaker and helped her husband run their dairy farm in Concord. She enjoyed working in her vegetable and flower gardens, canning what she grew, and cooking. Mildred loved her family and always enjoyed big family gatherings and reunions. She will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her sons, Randy Fisher and Tommy Fisher and wife, Teresa; grandchildren, Desirae, Chase, Clay and Brittney; sister, Lila Hughens; brothers, Don, Wayne, Johnny and Ben Rice; numerous nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends.
