Mrs. Mildred Elizabeth Patterson Barringer, 94, of Kannapolis, NC, passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at Tucker Hospice House. Mildred lived a life of dedication to her family, church, and the community, and her legacy will be cherished by those who knew her.
A funeral service to honor Mildred’s life will be held at 3:00 on Sunday, September 22, 2024, at Mt. Mitchell Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Joel Locklear, with burial to follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:30 pm to 2:45 pm prior to the service.
Mildred was born on May 27, 1930, in Kannapolis, NC, to the late Myrtle Elizabeth Cline Patterson and Albert B. Patterson. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Jack Edward Barringer, Sr.; son, Jack Edward Barringer, Jr.; sister, Verna Wilkerson; and brother, A.B. Patterson, Jr.
A longtime member of Mt. Mitchell Methodist Church, Mildred served the congregation in many capacities. Her passion for sewing and crafting was evident throughout her life, having worked as a seamstress at Terry Products for many years. Mildred also enjoyed spending time in her garden, taking trips to the beach, and watching NASCAR races. Above all, she treasured moments spent with her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Brenda B. Prevette; grandchildren, Tammy Brown and husband, David, Donna Tucker and husband, Rodney, Wendy Johnson and husband, Tom, Eddie Prevette and wife, Felicia; great-grandchildren, Caleb Greene and wife, Whitney, Casey Claypool and husband, Cody, Nicki Ketner and husband, Jordan, Stephen Hamrick and wife, Whitney, Garrett Tucker, Xander Buckles, Logan Buckles; and great-great-grandchildren, Ronin Ketner, Nora Hamrick, Levi Greene, Tessa Ketner, Lando Ketner, and Sophia Greene.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Mitchell Methodist Church, 6001 Old Salisbury-Concord Rd, Kannapolis, NC 28083.
Mildred will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her kindness, dedication, and love for her family will live on in their hearts forever.
