Mrs. Mildred Cauthen Allman, of North Main Street, passed away Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at NorthEast Medical Center.
Funeral services will be 3 PM Sunday at Wilkinson Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Lewis Whittington. Burial follow the service at Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:30 PM at the funeral home and at her daughters home after the graveside service.
Mildred was born June 13, 1939 in Concord to the late Troy Lewis Cauthen and Mae Shue Cauthen. She was also preceded in death by husband, Kenneth L. Allman, son, Kenneth L. Allman, Jr., companion, Clarence McGraw, and by eight brothers and sisters. She graduated from Winecoff School and later retired from Corriher Mills in Landis. Mildred loved to travel and especially enjoyed her mountain day trips with Clarence and the annual mother/daughter trips with her special sister Margie and her daughters. Mildred and Margie were often referred to as the M&M Sisters. She also loved working with Clarence in their famous garden and loved to “put up” the many garden goodies. Her family was her heart and she was a compassionate and strong woman who will be very much missed.
Mildred is survived by her daughters, Juanita “Tinker” Allman Beaver (and special friend Rick Warren), Shelia Basinger and Debbie Smith; son, Lewis Whittington; special daughter-in-law, Jan Allman; son-in-law, Mike Beaver; grandsons, Josh Allman and Jacob Allman; great grandchildren, Lukas, Ryan, Jackson, and Alice Allman; her furry shadow, Zoe; and her very special best friend Jean Porter.
