Merle Leslie “Corky” Reeves, 73, of Concord, NC, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2024, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
Corky was born on July 24, 1950, in Des Moines, Iowa. As a young man, Corky voluntarily enlisted in the US Marines where he served as front line in Vietnam. After he was honorably discharged, he returned home and started his career as an iron worker. He never met a stranger and was always up for telling a joke! Corky enjoyed chess, cooking, and spending time with family.
Corky is survived by his wife, Gail Reeves, of 28 years; his son Rocky Reeves (Giselle), daughters Emily Edlen (Adam) and Mary Simpson; grandchildren, Nathan, Sophia, Reece, Avery, Asher, and Caden. He is also survived by his siblings Valerie Dannenberg, Theresa Reeves, Susan Kallestad, and Michael Phelps as well as several nieces and nephews.
Corky leaves behind countless friends and family, all who would agree he was the best of the best. He'll be greatly missed by all who encountered his goodness, received his friendship, and were lucky enough to share in his time and humor.
A memorial service will be held at Wilkinson Funeral Home Chapel in Concord, NC on Friday, June 28th, 2024, from 12:00pm-1:00pm, followed by an intermittent at the Salisbury National Cemetery at 2:00pm. The family will receive friends prior to the service at 11:00am.
