Mr. Melvin Deese, age 91 passed away peacefully on April 28, 2017 at Tucker Hospice House.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:00 pm Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at Friendship Southern Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 with Rev. Jesse Watkins officiating. Burial with military honors will be held at Carolina Memorial Park.
Mr. Deese was born December 2, 1925 in Anson County, NC a son of the late Edward and Mary Brock Deese. He was also preceded in death by 6 brothers and sisters.
Melvin served our country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired from F.N. Thompson Construction Company after many years of service. His family was instrumental in helping start Friendship Southern Baptist Church, where he remained active until his health declined. Melvin enjoyed woodworking, gardening and being quite the jokester.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Mildred Dixon Deese; daughters, Melvia Dalton and husband, Olin, Brenda Hartsell and husband, Jack, Lori Watts and husband, Ricky and Pamela Laury and husband, Johnny; son, Charles Deese and wife, Connie; 9 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruth Charlton and Peggy Tyson; brother, Robert Deese and wife, Maria; numerous nieces, nephews and other loving relatives.
