Melton Nixon

February 10, 1919 — February 11, 2021

- Mr. M.W. “Nick” Nixon, age 102, formerly of Williamsburg Dr., passed away Thursday, February 11, 2021 at Morningside of Concord.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Carolina Memorial Park officiated by Reverend J. Nathan King. The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service.

Nick was born February 10, 1919 in Youngstown, Florida to the late Andrew McCrary Nixon and Artissa Burnham Nixon. He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Nadine Chamberlain Nixon and his brother Andrew Stark Nixon.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in the China – Burma – India Theatre during World War II. Upon his return, he settled in Concord where he was active in textile manufacturing, starting Craftsmen Finishers, Specialty Dyers and CFI. Nick and Nadine were members of Trinity United Church of Christ.

Mr. Nixon is survived by sons, Bob Nixon and wife, Dale and Wayne Nixon and wife, Kay of Concord, Robert Sisk of Raeford; grandchildren, William Nixon and spouse, Shane, Ashby Nixon, Hollis Nixon, Edie Barnhardt and husband, Matt, and great granddaughter, Nimet Calis. He is also survived by his sister, Virginia Walker of Jackson, Mississippi along with several nieces and nephews.

Nick had a passion for golf, flying and especially enjoyed his many dinners and camaraderie with his Romeo buddies.
The family would like to thank Tim Hawkins, Michelle Grimm, Vanessa Beaver, and the staff at Morningside of Concord for the attention and kindness shown to him over the last three years.
