Mary (Deanie) Tucker Redding, 84, beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend passed away peacefully at home the morning of August 24, 2016 after a courageous battle with melanoma cancer.
A service of worship and celebration will be held Saturday, August 27, 2016, 12:00 pm, at Epworth United Methodist Church, 1030 Burrage Road, Concord. The family will receive friends at 11:00 am, prior to the service. Reverends Dr. Wayne Allen and Dr. Linda Bowman will officiate.
Born September 7, 1931, Mary was the eldest of three daughters of the late Matthew Lee and Kathleen Smith Tucker of Concord. She was a graduate of Hartsell High School and married James Redding on February 12, 1952. She worked for Wachovia Bank for 37 years. Mary enjoyed shopping, music, family, and special gatherings with girlfriends. She was a faithful member of Derita Presbyterian Church in Charlotte prior to joining Epworth UMC in 1999.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, James Redding; sons, James (Doris) and Joseph (Marsha); sisters, Nancy Tucker Vogler and Janice Tucker Beatty (Robert); in-laws, Coy Redding, Myrtle Wills, Archie Kennedy; grandsons, Patrick (Kathryn) and John; great-grandchildren, Phineas and Beatrice, and many beloved nieces, nephews, and their families. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
