Ms. Mary Niblock, a beloved member of the Concord community, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 4, 2023 at Tucker Hospice House at the age of 99.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 8, 2023 at 4:00 pm at First Presbyterian Church, with burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the Fellowship House from 2:30-3:45 pm prior to the service.
Born on June 11, 1923 in Concord, NC to the late Zeta Caldwell Niblock and Franklin C. Niblock, Sr., Mary was a dedicated and accomplished individual who lived a life full of love, purpose and service. She was an alumna of Flora MacDonald College, where she received her degree in 1940.
After graduation, she spent one year in Oak Ridge during WWII and she taught school one year in Wyoming. Mary returned to her hometown of Concord in 1948 and devoted over 30 years of her life to teaching Home Economics at Odell High School and Northwest High School.
Throughout her life, Mary was a devoted member of First Presbyterian Church, where she found solace and community. Her warm and generous spirit touched the lives of countless individuals, and she will be remembered for her unwavering kindness and compassion towards others.
She loved art and was a very accomplished painter of flowers and landscapes. Mary is preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Ellen (Collie) Niblock, Katie Harvey Moore, Sarah N. Touchton, Margaret N. Harkins, Dr. Franklin C. Niblock, Jr. and Thomas Niblock.
She is survived locally by her loving niece, Kay Niblock-James, nephews William T. Niblock and Marc C. Niblock, along with other nieces and nephews around the country. She also had numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews that adored her hugs and kindness.

Mary will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Her legacy will continue to inspire and guide us, reminding us of the beauty and richness of a life well lived.
