Mrs. Mary Genevieve Hullette Santora LaRowe passed away peacefully Monday, January 1, 2018 at the Brian Center.

A funeral service will be held 11am Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Forest Hill UMC with Rev. Suzanne Dornsmith officiating. The family will speak to friends following the service in the church narthex. Mrs. LaRowe will be laid to rest in Milford, CT at a later date.

Mary Genevieve Hullette was born to Peter C. and Phoebe R. Hullette, June 29, 1923 in Stratford, CT, where she attended Stratford schools.

In September of 1941, Mary married Joseph Santora and they lived in Milford, CT. While there, she was quite active in volunteering. In the 1950’s, she had given many hours of service as a nurse’s aide at Milford Hospital. She was on the fund-raising team for the new construction of the “Milford Y.M.C.A” and was awarded a plaque for that service. Another joy for her, were the animals in Milford, where she worked endless hours with Leslie Sullivan to build a new “Milford Animal Shelter” through fund raising. Mary was also a past president of the Milford Business and Professional Women’s Club. In 1993, she moved to Kannapolis, NC.

Mary was an office manager for many years for J.F. Barrett & Sons in Devon, CT, a jewelry and accessories buyer for Wild Bill’s Clothing at the CT. Post Mall, and for more than 20 years by ADP-Milford and ADP-Charlotte, NC when she retired in 2003.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Joseph R. Santora, her brothers, Charles, Peter, C. Jr., George and a sister, Catherine Hayes.

Survivors include her daughter, Linda S. Nowlin of Richfield, NC; sister, Anne Robinson of Tustin, CA; 5 grandchildren, John Nowlin (Jamie) of Concord, NC, Gregory Nowlin (Rosemarie) of Milford, CT, Colin Nowlin (Brenda) of Davidson, NC, Paul Nowlin of Yemassee, SC and Yvonne Nowlin of Shelton, CT; 11 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Humane Society of Greater Concord and Cabarrus County, 2010 Wilshire Court, SW, Concord, NC 28025 or to the Cannon Memorial YMCA, P.O. Box 46, Kannapolis, NC 28082, attn: Debbie Owens.

Gregory F. Doyle Funeral Home in Milford, CT will be handling arrangements for the family there.
