Mrs. Margaret “Argie” Seay Hardy passed away at her home in Concord Thursday, September 2, 2021.
A private family service will be held at Memorial Gardens at a later date.
Argie was born October 17, 1925 in Bryson City, NC, to Maude Shelley Seay and Noah Patterson Seay. She was the last survivor of 9 children. She graduated in 1943 from Swain High School and from Western Carolina College (University) in 1947. Argie met and married Rudolph (Rudy) Warren Hardy in Sylva, NC in 1946. From Sylva, Rudy’s job as a pharmacist took them to Durham, Chapel Hill, Gastonia, then to Concord in 1953. He passed away in April of 2004. They have 3 children, Randy Hardy (Concord), Debra Anne Hardy (Concord), and Mitzi Hardy Laubscher (Bruce) of China Grove, NC; a granddaughter Casey Seay Poole (Jon) of Oakboro, NC and a grandson Nils Laubscher of China Grove; 3 great grandchildren Joshua, Jacob, and Elin Poole of Oakboro.
Argie enjoyed travelling the USA with her family and playing for years in various bridge clubs. She was a member of a garden club and a book club, liked to sew and crochet and all kinds of crafts. Argie was still playing tennis and walking in her late seventies. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Concord, the Blanche Stewart Class, Ladies Circle, and taught children and adult Sunday School classes. She was awarded an Honorary Lifetime Membership by the Presbyterian Women in 1998.
